How it works

The Small Group/FCS Baking program is designed for students to learn and bake together. Your group will watch the Bake for Good (BFG) Instructional Video and you can add to the experience by demonstrating parts of the dough-making and shaping process. Students work in teams of 2 or 3 to prepare loaves or rolls, keeping some for themselves and sharing others as acts of kindness.

We will send flour and materials based on the number of participants and the number of teams baking. Each student will receive a recipe booklet, a dough scraper, and bread bag. Flour and yeast will be provided based on the number of teams that will be baking.

FCS and Culinary teachers can apply for an entire term or school year. Please combine all classes and submit one application per school.

Please carefully review the Small Group Planning Guide for detailed instructions on preparing to bake and several timeline options for your group.

Learn, Bake — and Share

At King Arthur Baking Company, building community through baking lies at the heart of our mission. The BFG bread recipe makes two loaves or several dozen rolls, your students will extend the joy of their baking experience by sharing half of their baked goods as a donation to a food shelf, or as an act of kindness.
